Hôtel des Herbages was the first hotel, built in 1852 by a certain Lepareur, a Paris merchant, and really launched the resort. Villa Durenne was built two years later, commissioned by Pitre-Chevalier, then editor-in-chief of Le Figaro. Then, in 1855, Félix Pigeory, seduced by the site, bought 100,000 m2 of land for the construction of sumptuous villas, built the casino and the bathing establishment on the seafront, and drew up the plan for the future seaside resort
